Best Ever Chewy Brownies
Deeply decadent, ultra chewy and chocolatey, this easy brownie recipe will quickly become your new go-to dessert! These brownies taste way better than your classic box mix recipe, and you don’t need any fancy ingredients to make them. Whether you serve these chewy brownies at a party, potluck or just eat them all yourself, I know you’ll fall in love with this recipe too!

If you’re new to Avery’s Kitchen Dance, then I want to tell you a secret….okay, maybe it’s not so much a secret anymore….but anyway, here it is: I love chocolate. And for those of you who know me, well this is no secret. Ever since I was a very young child, I have been obsessed with chocolate. Chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate milk, chocolate bars, and the list could go on forever! Oh, but there’s one chocolate dessert I forgot to mention. And it happens to be one of my all time favorites. Are you ready? Brownies. You know, the dense, fudgy, chewy, chocolatey, crackly top and gooey center kind of brownies. I have tried many brownies, whether they be from a box mix, from a bakery or from my own kitchen. They’ve all been delicious. But this brownie recipe is….different. These brownies fully encapsulate all that I deem required for a superb brownie, and, as a bonus, you don’t need any super fancy ingredients! If you’re a die-hard chocolate lover, then you need these brownies in your life. Period.
Ingredients You Need

White Granulated Sugar: For this recipe, white sugar works best. I don’t recommend making any substitutions.
Confectioners Sugar: This is the secret ingredient to getting the chewiest brownies! Confectioners sugar contains cornstarch which helps thicken the brownies and give them an extra chewiness. No substitutions can be made here.
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: Any cocoa powder will do in this recipe. If you want extra dark brownies, use dutch-processed cocoa powder. My absolute favorite cocoa powder is from Lidl. I’ll link it here. Not sponsored, I just genuinely love this brand!
All-Purpose Flour: For this recipe, I don’t recommend making any flour substitutions.
Salt: Salt is super important in cutting through the sweetness of the brownies. I also love sprinkling the tops of my brownies with a little flaky sea salt before baking them as well.
Vanilla Extract: Although the star of this recipe is chocolate, I think vanilla adds a nice background flavor.
Butter: I use unsalted butter in this recipe, and although you can just melt the butter, I love browning mine for an extra rich flavor. You can also use an oil of choice as a replacement for the melted butter if you wish.
Eggs: Eggs are necessary for binding together the brownies. Make substitutions at your own risk.
Chocolate Chips: I have always loved chocolate chips studding my brownies, but if you’re not a fan, you can omit the chocolate. Or you could even substitute chopped walnuts instead.
The Dance
To make the best ever chewy brownies, start by whisking together your dry ingredients, then set the bowl aside. Next, melt or brown your butter. Browning your butter results in such a deep flavor, and it’s not as complicated as it sounds. For detailed instructions, view this recipe. Once you’ve browned (or melted) your butter, set it aside to cool for a few minutes.
In a large bowl, whisk together your eggs and white sugar vigorously by hand for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is pale yellow in color. Vigorously whisking the eggs and sugar ensures that the brownies will have those classic crinkly tops. While whisking the egg/sugar mixture, add your warm butter and vanilla. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet and fold until just combined before adding the chocolate chips. After pouring the batter into a pan, I love topping with extra chocolate chips and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt before baking. View the video below for a recipe visual:
These “best ever chewy brownies” are dangerously delicious. It will take all of your willpower not to eat the entire pan in one go…..

These brownies are perfect for a variety of occasions, and this will be a recipe that you will reach for again and again. I have made these brownies for family get-togethers, church gatherings, parties and just for my family. And they’ve been a hit every time! It’s always good to have a reliable dessert recipe on hand, and this is mine. I know it will become yours too 😀
